The aim of the group is to contribute to
the creation and maintenance of a network of lecturers and
researchers, who are willing to explore and debate new developments
influencing both planning theory and practice in the light of
complexity, complexity thinking and complex systems.
After the previous workshops dedicated to explore the theory of
complexity (Vienna, Reading, Cardiff, Mexico City, Cambridge), the
relationships between complexity and planning (Stuttgart) the focus
of the workshop in Milan was prevalently the one of methods and
tools, which are able to support the treatment of complex systems in
the field of planning.
MESSAGE TO THE MEMBERS
Dear Members
of the Aesop Complexity & Planning working group.
To your
information: All information that came out of the Milano meeting (including
the oral presentations (see audio option)) are now available on the
Aesop - groups - complexity & planning page!
The first
event the group will meet is at the joint Acsp-Aesop conference in
Chicago in July. Meeting space is arranged, although not yet known
is where and when precisely. The program of the conference will
inform you, when you are there.
16, 17 and
18th of October we will meet in Tessalonici, Greece, at the
Department of Planning & Regional Development, the University of
Tessalonici. Our host will be prof Aspa Gospodini (email:
gospod@uth.gr). In due time a
program, travel and hotel information will be given. Also a focus to
the program will be composed. One change to all events so far, is an
attached excursion to a case that represents 'complexity in
planning' in practice. This explains a third day to our two days of
presentations and discussions.
I am looking
forward to meeting you again in due time.
Regards,
Gert de Roo
